The vest is a concealed carry vest or a casual wear vest depending on the inside pocket variations. The vest provides unique inside pockets and two soft concealment holsters consisting of one small size holster and one medium size holster. The Holster Vest evolved from my search to find a lightweight, casual wear vest and a search to find a comfortable way to carry concealed. I tried shoulder holsters, belt clip holsters, and a pocket carry. All seemed either too cumbersome or too restrictive in the garments that I could wear. Eventually the first generation concealment vest was made from a jean jacket with inside “kangaroo pockets” which were a bit more comfortable than other holsters for carrying my handgun. So, after some trial and error, the Holster Vest evolved with deep inside pockets that greatly improved the balance of the vest when carrying a handgun and made use of the natural cross body reach by making the opening of the inside pocket horizontal rather than vertical. I used the demin vest concept to provide an affordable and comfortable vest. And, it makes no difference whether you are left or right handed because the holsters can be put in either pocket, or you can order the holster vest with a combination of a holster pocket and an accessory pocket. The accessory pocket can be used to carry items such as extra clips, cigars, a cell phone, or reading glasses. If you are right handed, you would select a holster vest with the holster pocket on the left side of the vest and the accessory pocket on the right side of the vest.
What to expect when carrying a handgun concealed
A small caliber hand gun (example: .32 caliber) will not show from the outside of the vest and the balance of the vest is very good. The vest will not droop to one side if the snaps are not fastened.
A medium size hand gun (example: 9mm) will create a slight bulge from the outside of the vest and the balance of the vest is only moderately affected, but does not droop to one side if the snaps are not fastened.
About 100% cotton
100% cotton denim will shrink, so if you are on the large end of the measurements, you may want to go to the next size larger. If you plan to carry a concealed handgun, remember to add a few inches to your waist measurement to allow for the thickness added by a handgun and a holster. If your belly is larger than the recommended measurements for each size vest, the bulge of the handgun/holster may be visible. If this is not desirable, a set of expansion chains can be used with the snaps.
